My Bookmarks

Today I received a request for links to shopping sites I frequent. That list has grown quite a bit in the past two years, and I still add to it regularly. Sometimes I happen across a new site when I Google designers or check the stockist links on their sites. Other times, I find them when searching designers on Grechen's Closet. I can't forget shopping forums, which are a wealth of information.

If there are any retailers who'd like to be added to the list, please leave a comment.

Without further ado, here is the list:

Bold & Beautiful

I haven't the look to pull off big, bold earrings, but I'll never stop admiring them on others.

Jess Viscarde, at Moose.

The Shining

I have an endless love for shiny things:

Add heels and a simple clutch, and you've got a party.

In the Navy

I love a beautiful navy dress. At first glance, it appears to be black, but look again and you'll be pleasantly surprised.

Moving on from the cheesy title, I present to you the following:

Maybe something stuck with me from my Catholic school uniform days, but I am loving me some Yumi Kim plaid coat. At Girlshop.

Birds of a Feather

These are so fabulously over the top that I had to post them. They're what fashion should never forget to be: fun!

The Thrill of the Chase

Last night, I attended a party at Riley James and fell for a gorgeous Alexander Wang skirt:

Story of my life, it was too big. I spent my morning calling every single store listed on his site and found myself back at Riley James. Lucky for me, they were super accomodating and offered to let me take the skirt to consult with their tailor before I buy. I think it's a done deal.

Round We Go Again

How fabulous are these bangles? I love the rough, organic feel to them. Now, if only I can afford just one...

Pretty in Print

Such pretty brown & cream for fall.

You Spin Me Right Round Baby

I know this isn't really fashion, but while adorning our bodies, one mustn't forget to beautify the home as well. Whitney Smith's pottery is a great way to start. All her pieces are thrown on the wheel to start and finished off by hand with lovely details like dogwood flowers and scalloped edges.

For a teacup swap, I paired one of her mini plates with a teacup I found at a local kitchenware store to create the perfect set:

You can learn more about Whitney Smith and purchase her wares by visiting her website or Miette Organic Patisserie in the San Francisco Ferry Building.

Shiftless No More

I've been searching high and low for the perfect black shift dress this season, and I may have finally found it. Keep your fingers crossed it'll fit.

My Secret Shame

I hate Juicy Couture. How could I not? This is the brand that made tacky velour tracksuits popular outside the privacy of one's home, and their handbags are a tacky ripoff of just about every high end designer on the market. I've seen one that looks like the love child of a Hermes Birkin and a Luella Giselle. (I'll try to dig up a photo.)

So, it is with no small amount of shame that I admit to liking anything Juicy. Unfortunately, I have a weak spot for argyle.

Thrifty Chic

When it comes to shopping, cheap is a relative term. Case in point:

These Chloes are on yoox.com for $339, and I've got it listed under Thrifty Chic. True, $339 is quite a bit for shoes, but thrifty compared to the retail of roughly $600. So, relatively speaking, these are a deal.

Or you can just go with cheap, relatively speaking or not:

Mary Janes, Payless Shoes.

If only I had these to go with my Catholic school uniform back in the day.

Maloles, Creatures of Comfort.

More to Love

Generally, I'm adverse to bags big enough for me to live in, but I'd be willing to make an exception for this Miu Miu.
